1. Representing of what happened is Truth; not telling truth is not necessarily a Lie. Intentionally misrepresenting the fact is a lie. If it not intentional then, it is called a mistake, ignorance or naïve.
2. In similar lines, not achieving something is not a Failure but is simply not Achieving the desired result. If you achieve then you are successful in that particular aspect. It is just that you are good at applying the concept of achieving in that particular aspect. Wow, How did you do that?
There is a contrasting difference between not achieving a goal verses failing. Let us dive into some of the differences and try to understand from different angles.
Not achieving a goal can be due to several reasons. You may be mentally tired thinking that it is difficult and do not act on the plan you have charted out. Thinking that, you do not have required skills to achieve. You do not have a written, concise and proper plan, you might think. You might think that you are not good enough; you still need to depend on someone to motivate or hold your hand to go beyond your current position. You did not even attempt once to achieve, probably. You have to play in order to win or lose. If you do not attempt, there is no question of failing, it is simply that you have not yet tried.
And now, the biggie.
Once my brother said, failure is not falling down but staying back. I understood it at intellectual level, but never really understood at a practical level. I also heard people say failures are stepping stones for success. All of us understand the concepts at intellectual level, but never try to put them in practice and perspective. Why? Because, this requires; changing our beliefs and or values about a particular aspect. For example, if you want to learn car driving, what is required to achieve this? You need to change your belief about traffic, your ability to learn etc. Changing belief about traffic – that, it is not a dangerous one, but rather it becomes potentially dangerous, if we do not abide by traffic rules and so on. So, by changing our view (perception) about it, we can change our belief. We create value towards learning car driving; as how important it is to us. If it is important to drive, then, it is of greater value. This value gives us the motivation to start learning. As we slowly learn the skill of driving, our belief starts changing about traffic and other things. Now, you can see the co-relation between belief and value. On the other hand, you can change your belief and your value changes. For example, you may believe that you are not good at earning money. You can change your belief to tell yourself that you attract the opportunities to earn more money. I assume that you are earning some money right now, at this very moment; that is you are employed. That tells that you are capable of earning money, which may not be very good amount in your opinion, but you do. You need to train yourself to tell yourself that you attract more money (it is recommended to have a fixed figure, instead of saying more money; you need to quantify) and you constantly keep repeating this as an internal picture, your belief changes. When your belief changes about earning money, it becomes an important aspect for you. As and when it became important, it became your value. Again, this value gives you the motivation and the ability to see the opportunities around to earn your desired income.
So, whatever you want to achieve or you failed at achieving, you simply need to alter either your belief or value and everything else will fall in place for you and achieving becomes a norm.
